The Chosen is BACK on Easter Sunday!!
Last year, the first season of this amazing show was such a profound blessing for me and my family over Easter. The way it soothed and calmed everyone I know was profound. Every one said something similar, that it made them feel safe, hopeful, and restored their trust in God to see us all through this. I hope you will take the opportunity, if you haven’t yet, to watch the first season and then accompany the rest of us fans into the second. (I’m excited to see my smol autistic bean Matthew back again! I love that Jesus hasn’t healed him, because there’s nothing wrong with him.)
I also love this series. I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Christian media, I don’t think a lot of them have been made well in the past (acting, script-wise, cinematography-wise, etc.) This is going to sound weird but this series makes the Bible and Jesus comes alive for me.
Which is weird because aren’t we supposed to find the Bible and Jesus, fascinating without extra stuff outside the Bible? So many actors who have played Jesus, have played him in such a way that makes Jesus and God look too serious, like Jesus can’t have a sense of humor or relate to us on a human level, and this series allows the actor to do that, which I love!
But if Jesus is the Son of God and God of all things, then he would have created humor and he himself would have a sense of humor. Definitely makes me wonder what a relationship with God will be in Heaven.
Also I love Matthew too. I didn’t really understand before what was so wrong with being a tax collector and why the Jewish thought it was a great betrayal back in Ancient Times. This series helps me understand their mindset back in the Ancient World. There are other things that I’ve picked up from this series that I was all “huh, I didn’t see it that way.”
Happy Easter!
Happy Easter to you as well. Do you have any exciting plans?
Nothing exciting, just some reading – including catching up on my blog reading. How about you?
Mostly doing quiet things today, catching up on some blog posts. Tonight I’ll be eating an early dinner with the family and then watching The Chosen. I also saw An Inspector Calls for the first time this afternoon and thought it was just splendid. It was NOT what I expected.
An Inspector Calls sounds really good – just did a quick online search & had no idea the script is so highly regarded.
*EXPLOSION OF EXCITEMENT*
Yes, yes. Our good son Matthew. ❤
