The Anthony Andrews Blog Hop

My friend Carissa is doing something fun for the month of February: hosting an Anthony Andrews Blog Hop. She’s going to be featuring articles, posts, and stuff relating to his various projects all month long, and invites the rest of the web to participate.

(Who is Anthony Andrews? Sink me, if you aren’t the most wretched thing in shoe leather. Begone until you know him better!)

I’m going to be doing some assignments for her, relating to various characters he has played and such, and posting them on my blog, but she invites all the Anthony Andrews fans to come along for the ride — and join in if you like! If you’ve written about any of his films, television appearances, etc., you can drop the link off at her blog to help us build a network of Andrews content. Or you can just sit back and enjoy the fun.

Happy Andrews Month!

    1. He’s a bit obscure now, but he was very popular in the 80s — he was the “Scarlet Pimpernel” opposite Jane Seymour and Ian McKellen (which is brilliant — if you ever get a chance to watch it, do!), he played Ivanhoe, and Sebastian in “Brideshead Revisited” for the BBC — not to mention made appearances in The King’s Speech, Marple, Rosemary & Thyme, Columbo, and other things. He’s a lovely actor — possibly best known for his wonderful, melodious voice.

  1. Ha! How charming. I haven’t seen him in a vast number of things, but of course I’ve seen The Scarlet Pimpernel and Ivanhoe and a couple other things, and I used to be fairly well obsessed with him when I was quite young.

    Have you seen this blog?
The author crosses over classic literature, usually with other classic literature but frequently with modern movies and period drama and such, in images. It’s not all Scarlet Pimpernel, but it does figure quite highly, as evidenced by the fact that it’s called “Sink Me!” Sometimes it’s excessively funny.

    1. I hadn’t seen it before, no! I look forward to exploring it when I get off work this evening. 🙂

Anthony tends to pop up in random television things. He was even in a Columbo — as a murderer who used a guillotine to execute someone. I admit it — I laughed.

    2. It’s a very cute blog, Christy. I found it already (which is sort of funny) and left a link invite for the gal who runs it. I doubt we’ll have that many participants in the blog hop, but I don’t really care if it’s just me and a few partners in crime. 😉 I hope that even if you don’t write for it, that you have fun visiting the different blogs that will post for it.

      1. My blog automatically updates to tumblr as well, so even if people don’t participate, they will still know about it!

(Do you remember that he plays the Prime Minister in “The King’s Speech”? It’s like a five minute performance, but when I saw it in theaters, I grabbed Dad’s arm and hissed, “PERCY! First Darcy, then Lizzie, then Cadfael, and now PERCY!”)

He… has an interesting child, my father does.

        1. Fortunately for us, our sweet fathers love us anyway. ;)And I’d totally forgotten about Anthony being in The King’s Speech! Thanks to a certain someone, I own that now!

That’s neat about linking your blog to your tumblr. I don’t think it’s possible with mine so it’s a good thing one of us has the capability.
